Discovery Princess: A Practical Ship Guide
Discover Discovery Princess, including dining, entertainment, MedallionClass service, cabins, 360 experience, and destination-focused booking advice.

Updated July 18, 2026.
Discovery Princess is the final Royal-class ship and a polished version of Princess’s established premium formula. It lacks the radically different architecture of the newer Sphere class, but offers familiar navigation, strong balcony inventory, varied dining, and a comfortable platform for destination-rich itineraries.
What Defines Discovery?
The Piazza forms the social heart, while Movies Under the Stars, Princess Theater shows, live music, pools, and adult retreat spaces create a balanced day. MedallionClass technology supports cabin access, ordering, and service around the ship. The immersive 360 dining experience is available on selected sailings and carries an added charge.
Dining and Cabins
Guests can choose main dining, World Fresh Marketplace, International Café, casual venues, Crown Grill, Sabatini’s, and other specialty options. Princess packages may bundle common extras, so compare consumption rather than choosing automatically.
Cabins include interiors, ocean views, balconies, mini-suites, and suites. Reserve Collection mini-suites add dedicated dining and benefits. Scenic itineraries reward a balcony, but public decks can make an interior cabin a sensible value for active port days.
Who Should Book Discovery?
Discovery suits couples, mature families, and travelers who prioritize Alaska, the coast, or another itinerary over onboard novelty. It is less appealing to guests seeking waterparks, cutting-edge architecture, or a nightlife-first vacation.
Ben’s Honest Take
A newer ship is not always a better itinerary ship. Discovery’s mature design and Princess service can make it the stronger choice when port schedule, embarkation point, and cabin value align.
