Overview
Is Holland America Line right for you?
Holland America has been sailing since 1873, and that heritage shows in its gracious, unhurried style. The mid-size ships are elegant and easy to navigate, the service is warm and polished, and the onboard culture leans toward enrichment: live music at the acclaimed Music Walk (including B.B. King’s Blues Club and a Rolling Stone Rock Room), destination speakers, and culinary programs. Along with Princess, it’s a leader in Alaska, running extensive Land+Sea Journeys into Denali and the Yukon. It draws a somewhat older, well-traveled crowd who value substance over spectacle.

Holland America Line FAQs
Experienced, destination-focused travelers who prefer refined, calm cruising over waterparks and crowds. It skews a bit older, with wonderful music, enrichment and food. Families sail too, but it’s not a thrills-and-slides line.
Outstanding — it’s one of the two Alaska leaders alongside Princess, with deep experience, scenic-cruising expertise and Land+Sea Journeys that add Denali and the Yukon by rail and wilderness lodge. We build these cruisetours often.
It’s refined but not stuffy — a couple of optional “Dressy” evenings, smart-casual otherwise. The overall feel is gracious and relaxed rather than rigid.
